In a year of re-evaluation Pan Trinbago has redefined the terms used to describe the Traditional, Ol’ Time or ‘Pan ’round the neck’ steelbands as simply Single Pan Bands.
This definition refers to the fact that members of these mobile ‘on-the-foot’ bands each carry and play only a single steel drum instrument.
This differentiates the difference to other ensembles and bands whose members may use up to as many as 12 steel drums per player; as in a 12-bass stack; as used by White Oak Harmonites.

Guinness Cavaliers are defunct. A choice to include a reformed Cavaliers failed at first, as there was some opposition to this idea. Pan Trinbago then convinced the steelband community that for a rephrase of historic and cultural continuity to the show, Cavaliers would be recreated. Lennox “Bobby” Mohammed, the celebrated arranger, was to be flown in from Canada to help with the reformation of the band. Cavaliers contribution to the structure of how Panorama tunes are played today, is historic. “Bobby's” contribution is legendary.
St James North Stars, under the captaincy of Fitzroy Barton and who have been playing for the last 5 to 6 years, are a direct pedigree to represent PanAm North Stars.
  A Concert and Competition
Set for chronological Play Order of their winning selection, nostalgic moments abound as the Panorama Champions steelbands will play, as close to the original, their Hallmark Winning Panorama Tune [The Concert piece]; and a 6 to 8 minute Non Calypso Tune to Calypso tempo [Competition piece]. This Once in a Lifetime event, for players and audiences alike, will not recur for another 100 years!
The original arrangers are all here to recreate that atmosphere they generated at the time of their winning performances; 'Tony' Williams, 'Bobby' Mahommed, Rodney, Achaiba, Puckerin [In Spirit], 'Smooth' Edwards, 'Boogsie' Sharp, Goddard, Samaroo and 'Teacher' Bradley.   This looks to becoming the première steelband event for this closing Century, where the band size is to be no less than 75 players; and up to a maximum of 120.
At this time, at least 6 of these bands are expected to field the upper limit.

See the Panorama Champions summary or the full Panorama Winners pages for previous Panorama Year, Tune, Composer and Arranger data.

Voices of Joy with Steel

The steel of Exodus rings cheer with the 100 or so sweet voices of the Lydian Singers who alternate and combine with African and Tassa drums to peel Joy to all at the closing of an epoch. Solos, duets and all-togethers from drum, voice and steel. A piano concert with Lindy Ann Bodden-Ritch whose humor is infectious and yet whose charmed hands set steady sounds to the girls of the Bishop Ansteys High School who are patisipant students in an historic musical act with pan. Visiting Tchaikowsky, Bach, Mozart, Widor, Bernstein, Puccini, Dvorak, Handel and local Goddard among others; the sticks of Exodus and Sophia Subero, Calvin Springer, Sheldon Peters charm us; the Lydian voices and Joanne Pyle, Kareem Brown, Nicolas Boisselle, Brian de Ferière, Glenis Yearwood, Germaine Wilson, Edward Cumberbatch stir our inner passions; the hands of Mc Huff Ramirez, Haazen Gounod, Pelham Goddard, Pat Bishop, Desmond Waithe and of so many unseen others swing in harmony to guide this dedicated stand of musicians under the quiet management of Ainsworth Mohammed. An event that is tropical in spirit and to the heart.
Queens Hall, St Anns, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
