WITCO Desperadoes automatically pre-qualify for the Finals.12 Steelbands are normally expected to play in the Finals where, 11 Steelbands are selected, by order of merit, to compete against the reigning National Conventional Champion; for the National Panorama Conventional Finals.
There were no unusual ties in this years Semi-Finals to change this order of events.
However, there will now be 13 steelbands in the National Finals following a score-sheet dispute.
[ RETURN to Final Resuts page. ]Conducted behind closed doors; with the Chief Judge deciding, and in concurrence with the President of Pan Trinbago, details withheld; it has been officially decided that Carib Tokyo will now enter the Finals.
Information released at this time by Pan Trinbago indicates that Carib Tokyo submitted an official complaint to the adjudicators about their score.
The Chief Judge, on reviewing the score sheets at hand, has decided that, for whatever reason, Carib Tokyo have a sufficient case to allow them to enter the Finals, while further investigations are being made.It is speculated that an embarrassing arithmetic error may be the root cause for complaint.
The list of 13 steelbands now appearing in the National Panorama Finals is shown below.
