    The 1998 Carnival season was officially launched on

04:00 pm		 By the National Carnival Comission with the event

Port of Spain, Trinidad.		  
 

   For these pages; Tojo arrived late due to matters of research, but in time for some corn-soup, and to witness a small section of Invaders start the steelbands representation. They were followed by the Trinidad & Tobago Defence Force Steel Orchestra - the 1997 Panorama Traditional Steelband winners.
   Both bands were in good form; with the Defence Force Steel giving top class arrangements and much stick to Invaders who finished the presentation with a second showing.

   Also in noisy evidence, who were much taken for granted, but pleased me no end to see and hear were about 10 greased members of a Jumbi & Jab-Jab mas' band beating square oil-pans supported 'round the neck'.

  For a delightful taste of past glories were about 8 members of the TattBaco Tamboo Bamboo Band who demonstrated wonderful dexterity in rhythmic delivery.
