Tamboo Bamboo |
The bamboo tamboo stick bands, which preceeded steelbands, were composed of hundreds [?] of young people, each carrying a bamboo stick as thick as your arm, and four to six feet long. Pounding the open end on the ground gave off a deep muted tone. With carefull selection of sizes of bamboo, and rehersal of counter-rhythmic effects, one had a thunderous rhythem orchestra.
1964 Peter Seeger Pg 3; STEEL DRUMS How to play them and make them.
[Conventionally; tamboo bamboo is the more common usage of the term, rather than bamboo tamboo as cited above. JGdeB]
