Joint winners Exodus and the T&T Defence Force Steel Orchestra pulled out stops when they mingled, hugging and jumping with each other, as the euphoria of the result settled over the foot-ball field size stadium floor.

A little later, mostly to the delight of only the remaining members of all the other bands, spectators having already left; and all the other band's tired members present only due to having to curtain-call for the final results; a spontaneous party resulted when, first Exodus, then T&T Defence Force, each played out the same and party calypso, to excite the panpeople into dance. Others disappointment melted to resigned smiles as Exodus members, mainly from the rhythm section, and even a lady spectator on 'Iron', joined the forces of T&T Defence for a last-lap.

Packing was already underway when the music started. Band members tarried to watch or join in the party, deterred from the thankless task of dismantling the instruments of 10 steelbands that had been laid out for the evenings show as 10 strategically placed lots that covered the entire area of the playing field. An idea that speeded the presentation of the event, as only the respective steelbands members themselves needed to enter and exit the arena; their steel drum instruments already laid out.

This was the first time in the 46 year history of the organised bi-annual Steelband Music Festivals, that there had been joint winners. The competition had been fierce, eagerly contested and astutely judged. The final Large Steelbands or Orchestras section of Pan is Beautiful IX had entertained a memorable evening, with much left to discuss and argue over later. At about 2am in the morning, it was time to head home.
